2010 Photo Contest

2010 Photography Competition

Presser Performing Arts Center will host its 4th annual Photography Competition in October 2010. All photos are due October 20. The Photo Gallery will be Oct. 30 from 2:00-4:00.
In the past, categories were limited and many fine photographs were not awarded due to the narrow scope of the subjects. We have expanded the categories this year to cover a wider variety of photographic interests. We have also changed the sizes for the entries to better reflect the opportunity to crop a shot to fit the subject and also allow for panoramic compositions.

Entry Sizes
8 inches minimum on one side (i.e. 4x8, 6x8, 8x8, etc.)
13 inches maximum on one side (i.e. 6x10, 8x13, 13x13 etc.)

Categories for Entries:

12 year olds & under (any subject)
Sports/Action
Animals/Fish/Birds etc.
Landscape
Nature
Weather
Architecture
Black & White
Abstract/Manipulations
Portrait
Macro
Open
Fun
Noncompetitive

As in the past any processing must be limited to that which does not alter the truth of the photographic statement. No elements may be moved, cloned, added, deleted, rearranged, or combined. No manipulation or modification is permitted (Abstract/Manipulations category exempt) except resizing, cropping, selective lightening or darkening, and restoration of the original color of the scene.

Guidelines

mounted or matted (no frames)
name, address/email, phone # on back of entry and naming the category of photo (if entry is not labeled it will be put in an open category)
all photographers must be Missouri residents
$7.00 entry fee
entries can be mailed to:

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon in each category along with an Overall Grand Prize winner and 2nd & 3rd place Overall Winners, 3 Judges Picks and Honorable Mentions

Criteria of judging is based on Composition, Exposure, and Creativity.

No professional photographers please.
