Rules:

All decisions are final.  Judging will be blind. (do not put your name on entries)  Entry fees are non-refundable.    Keep your original.  Copies will not be returned.  You may enter as many times as you like.  Each entry must include an entry fee and entry form.  All entries must be typed on light colored paper.  You must include 3 copies of each poem.

Automatic Disqualification:  Graphic language/violent or sexual content.  Missing entry fee or identifying information.  The winnning entries will be published at www.presserpac.com and the Mexico Ledger.

VOX POPULI GENERAL INFORMATION:
VOX POPULI  is  DESIGNED TO ALLOW TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS THE

OPPOURTUNITY TO PERFORM IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE AND/OR TO SHOWCASE THEIR form of art.

THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 25TH, 2012 FROM 7PM TO 9PM
ON THE STAGE AT PRESSER HALL. ARTISTS CAN SHOWCASE MUSIC, ART, PHOTOGRAPHY,
VIDEO, OR COMEDY. EACH ARTIST WILL BE GIVEN 10 MINUTES TO PERFORM OR SHOW THEIR
ART. IF THE ARTIST DOES NOT NEED TO USE ALL 10 MINUTES, THEY NEED TO indicate THIS BY
THE “TYPE OF ART”. IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 12 ARTISTS THAT SIGN UP BY FEBRUARY
16TH THERE WILL BE A CALL BACK ON FEBRUARY 17TH. IF THERE ARE NOT 12 ACTS BY THE
NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE AN ARTIST CAN FILL OUT A PERFORMANCE AGREEMENT ON
THAT NIGHT AT THE DOOR. ARTISTS THAT SIGN UP AT THE DOOR WILL HAVE TO PAY TO GET

Guidelines

-Must be at least High School Freshman and have not graduated from
college or exceed the age of 25.
-Each artist will receive 10 minutes to perform unless they state otherwise.
-Art must be family friendly. No profane, racial, or derogatory language will
be tolerated.
-A piano, acoustic amp, and microphones will be provided for those who
need it.
-Bands may play, but it is an acoustic event. Electric guitars; drum sets, or
any type of instrument that requires an amplifier are not permitted.
-Auxiliary Percussion instruments are permitted
-Ex: Cabossa, wood block, tambourine, shaker eggs, etc.
-Water and other complimentary snacks will be provided for those who sign
up before the 16th of February
-Sound Check for musical or vocal performers will be at 5:30pm on February
25th
-A 20’ x 8’ stage will be provided

I agree to the guidelines and recognize that the Junior Board of Directors
can and will, if need be, decline my entry to perform at Vox Populi and/or

Workshop March 9-11

Master The Art of Acting is a workshop designed for actors whose professional acting training and experience is limited. In this intensive three-part workshop, actors move through a plethora of learning experiences encompassing all aspects of the professional acting world from auditioning to headshots to landing an agent to performing on camera as well as on stage. “Acting” is a term that might hold more relevance if it were referred to instead as “Being”. It is an organic process that is viscerally born and emergent from one’s soul. It is the art of accurately and truthfully portraying the moment-to-moment, beat-by-beat life that unfolds in any given scene. It simply cannot be faked. A common teaching and directorial prompt used in Hollywood to help unproven actors understand the process is “think the thought and the audience or camera reads it.” Truthful acting is not about memorizing lines. It is not about indicating emotion. It is about listening, feeling and reacting. During the workshop actors perform individually, in pairs, and in small groups in short performances from a variety of genres and formats working in scenes from actual scripts from motion pictures, television programs, short films and plays. Training encompasses working both on camera and on stage including auditioning, blocking & movement, voice, scene analysis, character development, sense-memory-recall, connecting, timing, and physical “business”. Get ready to “roll up your sleeves” and get down to what real “Acting” is about!

Sam Dalton

The workshop is conducted by Hollywood veteran actor/writer/director Sam Dalton (SAG/AFTRA/AEA). Mr. Dalton’s acting credits include the role of Mr. Gurntz in the original Paramount motion picture Footloose and a recurring role on the NBC daytime series Santa Barbara. Other credits include co-starring parts in numerous network and cable movies-of-the-week, prime-time dramas and situation comedies. When he’s not acting in motion pictures and television programs, Mr. Dalton serves as an Adjunct Professor of Film at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film in Nashville, Tennessee.
